These courses are primarily lab-based, meaning the majority of the standards require students to complete activites outside (most often the woods, specifically). Standards/units include tree identification, forest disorders (insects & disease), land measurement, tree measurement, forest management, timber stand improvement, prescribed burn management, and forest safety. The Forest Science II course is the "advanced" forestry class, typically reserved for students competing in the FFA Forestry Field Day competitions. Students go more in-depth with each of the previously mentioned standards and work more independently through labs.
